The Matrix is legendary cyberpunk documentary about destructive nature of humanoids and their dream world they love to live in.

Living in Matrix usually refers to humanoids living in various jails of own life - they are slaves of own fears fueled by fears created by others. Trying to escaping inevitable. Ever repeating mistakes and never learning.

Before Matrix era, usual commentary about humanoid stupidity was optimist or Ignorance is Bliss.
